Time Warner Cable is apparently suffering from a string of thefts of battery units in its outdoor pedestal boxes in the Dallas area.
And the company is willing to pay ,000 to put a stop to the crimes.
From a news release I just received:
Time Warner Cable will provide a cash reward of up to ,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals or groups responsible for the theft of Time Warner Cable batteries throughout the city.
Time Warner Cable has encountered incidents involving theft of equipment contained within its distinctive pedestal box, commonly seen in utility easements throughout the city. The equipment, also known as Alpha Gell Cell Batteries, looks similar to a car battery, and are used to power TWC’s network in the event of power failure.
When thieves steal or attempt to steal these batteries or power supplies customers may lose access to video, high speed Internet, and Digital Phone, including 911 emergency services.
“We take network security very seriously and these criminals are putting our customers at risk. We will pay 00.00 for information that will help convict the person or persons responsible,” said Rob Moel, regional vice president of operations for Time Warner Cable in North Texas.
Anyone with information regarding individuals or groups that may be responsible for this theft-related crime is encouraged to contact Time Warner Cable at 1-888-824-8041 and/or RTX.Security@twcable.com.
Conditions of the reward are posted after the break
